Iván Adonyi
About me
I obtained my Master Diploma in 2000 as a violin maker at the Instrument Making School of the Liszt Ferenc Music Academy in Budapest, for which I received the Certificate of Merit of the Hungarian Association of the Musical Instrument Makers. After a few months journeyman examination in Montreal at the workshop of Jules Saint-Michel and Tom Wilder, I joined to my former master, László Lakatos and the following years I collaborated with several renowned Hungarian violin makers. In 2004 I associated at the Institute of Musicology of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest. Since 2010 I have been working in my own shop opened at Újlipótváros, which has been deeply inspired by the small luthier’s workshops in Cremona. I am specialized in custom-made violins and violas following the Brescian and Cremonese tradition and I also have devoted some time to restoring and repairing various bowed instruments. I frequently participated in several exhibitions, for example in Esztergom (2000), in London (2004) as well as in Cremona (2006).
