Héjja grew up surrounded by string instruments. He eventually learned how to play the cello and to this day plays as an amateur cellist in the Hejja Cello Ensemble. In 1994 he began studying musical instrument making at the Liszt Ferenc Academy in Budapest. In 1998 he opened his own workshop where he mainly makes and restores modern and baroque cellos.
In order to improve his professional knowledge he has visited, and worked in, several European and American workshops. During these periods he has gleaned many new skills and tricks of the trade from world-renowned masters, acquiring the knowledge needed to bring out the ideal settings and tones of the instruments. It is through these experiences and apprenticeships that Héjja grew to become a well-known cello specialist.
His instruments are present at all of the important international exhibitions:
Cremona - Mondomusica, Vienna – Resonanz Festival, Paris - VioloncellenSeine, Amsterdam - CelloBiennale, Utrecht – Early Music Festival, Seville – Expo FeMÀS, Budapest – Wine & Violin, Milano, Basel, and many more.
Vonós hangszerek között töltötte gyerekkorát , majd csellózni tanult, és a mai napig amatőr csellistaként játszik is. ( „Hejja Cello Ensemble” )
1994-ben kezdte hangszerész szakmai tanulmányait a Liszt Ferenc Zeneakadémia Hangszerészképző Iskolájban Budapesten.
1998-ban alapította meg saját műhelyét, ahol főként csellók készítésével, restaurálásával foglalkozik.
Szakmai tudásának gyarapítása érdekében számos európai és amerikai műhelyt meglátogatott, illetve dolgozott, ahol elsajátithatott számos mesterfortélyt az ideális beállítás, és a legjobb hang elérése érdekében, tapasztalt idős mesterektől.
